windblown poppie

I love the intricate details of these brave little blooms.

Snowy peak

The top of Mt Taranaki looked fascinating over the weekend.

monarch

I edited this photo in Picmonkey, although I can do it with my camera--but I don't think about it when I'm taking photos.

the perfect rock

I showed you my first shot of this little guy/gal earlier when I first saw him/her. I didn't realize I had this shot until later. I think he/she is trying out rocks to see how comfy they are.

Here's the next time we saw him/her, looking quite content. I had to edit it a lot since the seal blended in with the rocks and the sun was going down, but that little seal-face says it all.

wintery skies

It looks as if Mt Taranaki is dressed in her finest, flowing scarf.

kingfisher

From the archives, this little guy hangs around the house sometimes. Maybe he wants some birdy company now and then.

crepuscular rays

We caught this awesome sight in New Plymouth tonight. I figured there had to be a name for the rays and I found that they are called crepuscular rays.

wanganui fountain

The sun broke through as we passed this fountain on a roundabout in Wanganui. I like how the water stream was caught in the sunlight.

Wairaka

This statue of a young maiden sits atop a rock in the harbor at Whakatane and her name is Wairaka. Click here for her story.

Garden visitor

The morning sun was quite bright on my dahlia and friend, but I think it adds to the photo.

last photos of 3 sisters for a while

As I'm sure you know, it's not easy to select photos to share when ALL of them are enough to take your breath away. The bits of algae and tiny mussels clinging to the layers of rock make me understand how truly insignificant we are.

springtime!

It seemed that spring had already arrived at Hollard Gardens this weekend! Come on, spring!

WATW and one from the archives

I'm trying to think warm thoughts to get me through our winter weather and this shot from my archives helps a lot! *edit* Taken at Wai Iti Beach.
