nest raider

I saw this harrier hawk in the top of a tree in the yard!
That's the closest to the house I've seen one, as it was probably
 raiding a bird's nest.

monochrome images

It was wet and cloudy on our overnight trip a while back, so I just made
all the photos monochrome.

These were taken in Palmerston North. I love the art deco facades.

For some strange reason, this is called Stony River.

My Corner of the World

These are sculptures of Moa, a flightless bird found only in New Zealand,
that went extinct in the mid 15th century.
We found the sculptures in Apiti.

orion

In the midst of rain from Cyclone Dovi last night, I noticed moonlight shining in
a window, so I went outside and found very clear skies. So I grabbed the camera and
took a few photos. I did find Orion's belt just above the roof and was happy to get a
slightly-shaky shot before the clouds covered him up again.

Upper Mangaehu Road

After we accomplished finding the Bridge to Somewhere, we paid more attention to
the roadside on the way out.

There were many, many beehives next to the public road. Obviously, the owners wanted
to keep people off their land.

I'm not sure what the owners are doing on the land, but the wild goats seemed to be happy there.

But it seems they aren't all appreciated.

The piggies were too cute to shoot, except for with a camera.

This little piggie was wandering along the road.
