Tirau

Hubby told me to get my camera ready as we got close to Tirau, but I was busy admiring the town before I remembered to start clicking!

The original critter--information center and public toilets.

These are just the ones on the main street!  If you want to see more, you can google 'Tirau.'

sunshine and the beach

We finally got some wonderful sunshine and, of course, we went to the Beach to celebrate.

Hubby spied this great shot.

colorful rosebuds caught at the window

Last year, there were very few roses on the bush outside the window--and that was just one or two little blooms at a time. So when I noticed several buds and a huge blossom I had to go out to investigate. I found quite a few buds colored with pink tint and was so excited about them!

Over the next few days, the roses just burst open.

clouds

Even though I don't get up and around at those early morning hours, sometimes, I wake up (either to go to the bathroom or the cat is meowing in my face) and look out the windows. These clouds fascinated me the other morning.

quirky business

I'm pretty sure you won't see something like this in the city!

I never thought much about coffins, but this builder who is on welfare the dole is ambitious enough to try to start a business. Strange but admirable. I'm not sure this would be allowed in the States--too many regulations.

flowering maple

I have lots of shots of this flower and had to look it up. It's a flowering maple or abutilon hybridum.

it's beginning to look a lot like summer!

The snow is melting on Mt. Taranaki (also known as Mt. Egmont) and the skies are looking mighty blue.

mailbox montage

These are just a few of the silly things I have seen beside the road for mail.

wild, wee purples

I found this great flower growing in the thicket beside a river. I don't know what it is, but I thought it was interesting and different. It reminds me of a wild onion. Please let me know if you know what it is.

sheep

You don't think about wool and where it comes from until you come around a corner and see this.
