On an overnight road trip we stopped here on the Kapiti Coast. That's Kapiti Island out there, a predator-free bird sanctuary. You have to wade in the water to visit to make sure it stays that way.
Always a bit of graffiti around.
The road is so close to the water that, sometimes, it has to be closed. There is a new road in the works.

Interesting looking place. Have a good week Diane
What wonderful views! This is reminding me to hit the road and find some elevation...:)jp
This is a graffiti artist with a sense of humor, not as bad as some. Wonderful coast road, but if sea level rises it may be closed more and more.
Such a pretty view of the water. Thanks for sharing and for the smile!
Wonderful views along the coast line that graffiti artist is a fan of Elton John!!
Yikes- that road really is too close to the water. Love the views!
What a beautiful place. I am glad that it is protected.

Amazing view. Loved the post.
Oh Wellington, I had a pen pal there once. It's been a long time.
Thank you very much for the beautiful pictures, I'll be back tomorrow.
Greetings Eva
Wow that road is precariously located, but the island for birds is a wonderful thing! I love knowing about this!
So can you really wade all the way to the island? It looks like a long way. Beautiful picture.
