paekakariki hill lookout, Wellington

On an overnight road trip we stopped here on the Kapiti Coast. That's Kapiti Island out there, a predator-free bird sanctuary. You have to wade in the water to visit to make sure it stays that way.

Always a bit of graffiti around.

The road is so close to the water that, sometimes, it has to be closed. There is a new road in the works.

  3. This is a graffiti artist with a sense of humor, not as bad as some. Wonderful coast road, but if sea level rises it may be closed more and more.

  9. Wow that road is precariously located, but the island for birds is a wonderful thing! I love knowing about this!
