Lyttleton Time Ball Station

Hubby ventured up the hill to take photos of the Lyttleton Time Ball station, one of only 5 in working order in the world.

From 1876 to 1934, a ball dropped on its stone tower, signaling the time to ships in Lyttleton Harbor.

Skippy, a neighbor, used to visit the timeball every afternoon about 1:00 to watch (and hear) the ball drop.  https://www.facebook.com/LytteltonTimeball/

The black sphere is a Maori Pou. (Click here.)
