Every year, I look forward to seeing ferns before they unfold. The Maori call it 'koru' and it symbolizes new life.
I have been editing my photos in Photoscape for years. Its free and does everything I want to edit my photos--except one, and that's to highlight one color in a b&w shot. Thanks to Rhonda over at Albom Adventures, I can now do that in Picmonkey.

Nicely done--- also requiring that I remember the season there. I love seeing the ferns here as they first grow.
How amazing is that?!!!
fantastic !!!
Whoo this is great :)

I too love unfurling ferns! Popped colour can be very effective... my lastest camera actually has an override option by which I can take the photos based upon the colour of choice - not that I remember that in the heat of a photographic moment! YAM xx
In Maine they are called fiddle heads and are eaten.
The birth of a fern. Lovely.
Oh wow..I love these macro photos.. visiting from Tuesday Afternoon...Michelle
I like that curled up fern and yes Pic Monkey is awesome!
I remember those from last year. Still amazing.
We just call it 'Farn' (close to the English 'fern') and there are many great ferns - even here in Germany. But I think the variety (and size?) of ferns in NZ is even greater!
Why have you never tried Photoshop Elements to edit your photographs - it has a very good price-performance ratio and compared to the long and regular time of use it's nearly free as well...
...I can't imagine a life without PS Elements (currently version 13) anymore!
so interesting - the texture reminds me of braided, twisted yarn
Beautiful ferns ... it is easy to see how they symbolize rebirth.
I love these shots of the koru, our ferns (in our section) haven't started to green up yet. I love when they are just starting to unfurl.

that is just beautiful. Here in USA we call them fiddlehead ferns and we eat them in the spring...well, I don't. Absolutely beautiful images. I have been using picmonkey but haven't tried photoscape yet.
