These islands are called Sugarloaf Islands because Captain Cook thought the bird guano looked like the sugar he put in his tea. They surround an extinct underwater volcano.
Interesting naming by Captain Cook...lol. Did he really want to think of bird guano every time he took his morning tea? Weird guy. Stunning photograph!
That's a nice thought that is -- glad I don't take sugar in my coffee! Forgetting good old Captain Cook's oddness, it is a beautiful and very photogenic area -- moody and pristine (I don't even see any of that 'sugar'.
