sugarloaf islands, new plymouth

These islands are called Sugarloaf Islands because Captain Cook thought the bird guano looked like the sugar he put in his tea. They surround an  extinct underwater volcano.

  8. That's a nice thought that is -- glad I don't take sugar in my coffee! Forgetting good old Captain Cook's oddness, it is a beautiful and very photogenic area -- moody and pristine (I don't even see any of that 'sugar'.
