pink peony poppies

There were three of these beautiful flowers that bloomed shortly after we moved into this house. I had never seen them before, but Hubby knew exactly!

I love all the busyness inside each blossom!

foamy sea

We see foam like this after a storm. It is basically algae (and other things) that has been beaten into foam by the churning water.

We were here first!

They are such noisy creatures, but their expressions are priceless.

the fence post

As Dave noticed on my everyday birds post, this fence post, just outside my computer room window, seems to be a bird magnet of some sort. Most birds sit on the post, but this little swallow was happy to sit beside it.

pink azalea

This azalea sneaked itself into full bloom before I really noticed it was there!

faithful friend

I have carried bits of this succulent from place to place and it has never disappointed me each spring. It has mostly lived in pots but now it's got a nice home in terra firma (thanks to Missy who planted my succulent garden for me).
It's called sedum acre aureum.

lone survivor

This gorgeous but lonely flower is the only one of its kind in our new garden right now. I'm sure that next spring will have many more flower faces and lots of great colors.

swan plant blossoms

These are the beautiful blossoms of the swan plant when the monarch caterpillars don't eat the plant bare.

winter at bason botanical gardens

Hubby took these photos this weekend at Bason Gardens. Click here for the story of the place.  I think he has a natural knack for scenery. My back is getting better but not quite up to getting out for photos, yet.

remains of the tide

I love the marks that the ocean leaves on the sand as the tide goes out. It seems to me that it's a very slow 'Good by'.

steam at tokaanu thermal pools

The steaming hot water was blue and clear enough to see to the bottom of the outdoor pool. The steam from these underground hot springs is harnessed in the bath house at the other end of the property. And, it's sooo relaxing!
