Since it's finally been cold at home--after all, it IS winter--I was excited to expect to see snow on the way. For someone who grew up in Chicago, it was really weird to be excited about snow. I only see it in Taranaki a few times a decade.
As we climbed, I spied snow-covered mountains ahead and Hubby pulled into a rest area so I could take photos.
We were amused to see this truck in the snow-covered mountains!
And then...we drove around a curve and the clouds were gone.
Voile! Mt Ruapehu dressed in her finest snow cover!

Beautiful snow covered mountain especially in the last photo. We have yet to venture out for overnight trip even though we have been talking about it. Happy Sunday.
Amazing pics
Ruapehu is a beautiful lady when she deigns to lift her cloudy skirts :)
Pretty photos of your adventure. The snow looks refreshing. We are in the 90's here in the southern US with quite a bit of humidity. Mt. Ruapehu is beautiful. Enjoy your weekend.
...at the moment seeing snow from afar is a treat.
Living in Nevada, then Colorado; everyday in winter I was greeted by snow covered mountains in the distance when I stepped out the front door. I miss that. Beautiful photos of a beautiful place.
Mountain beauty indeed! Great photos.
beautiful white covered mountains of snow
What a great drive you had, so good to get a snow covered mountain shot.
Many is the road trip i have taken down that road in winter, and sometimes you see her, and sometimes you don't - I have photos of both! That must have been a wonderful trip, especially once the clouds cleared Betty.
Stay safe
Blessings

Stunning. ♥nic
The truck shot is funny. The snow covered mountains are beautiful especially when the clouds lifted. NZ sure is a beautiful country.
Beautiful shots. Snow capped mountains are so stunning!
Superb scenery and photos!
It was so hot here today...these look so inviting.
Gorgeous! And I love the truck shot
Happy Winter! That Mountain is stunning (and I’ve seen lots of snow-covered mountains to compare it to)...just so beautiful. I would be happy however living where you do...where it seldom snows, but where you can drive to it when you want to see a mountain! (Actually I did live in a place like that ...right here in Eugene Oregon). Still do, but I’m not usually here in the winter these days.
Breathtaking! Blown away. Looks like one heclluva trip. So glad you caught sight of the mountain. :))
Beautiful photos..Michelle
Beeindruckende Fotos, die mir viel Freude bereitet haben
beim Betrachten, herzliche Grüße zu dir, Karin Lissi
Yes, I actually see snow and very low clouds. I like the little detour into the snow the most but the 'Mt. Ruapehu ', thank you for this view of the sky!
