You have to drive by this marker to get to the beach below, and each time, I marvel at its simplicity. I would love to have seen this marker being used.
Church steeples often served the same purpose here. The old Greyfriars Monastery in Kings Lynn was demolished during the reign of Henry VIII but the tower, which was a marker for shipping, remains to this day.
Very cool! Just takes two points to make a line, so I guess that would give them their "approach lane". Now days we would probably have some fancy app on our smartphone!
