ponga fronds

I love to see these fronds in any stage. They make such wonderful patterns from their curled up beginnings to designs against the sky. They are the national emblem of New Zealand.

I had no idea the importance of these plants in NZ. They are stunning and you have captured them beautifully.

I like the curled ones in the fist shot and the second shot shows of their delicate design.

Those are absolutely beautiful pictures Betty. I love ferns of all kinds (one of the loveliest surprises was finding out how well they grow in Florida -- which we had not expected before our first visit).

Did not know this was the national emblem. (There is SUCH a lot I don't know -- blogs are a great and beautiful way to learn). Thanks for this lovely post.

Quilters not only love ferns for their patterns in quilts, but for the many motifs that they influence for the quilting on a quilt. Such a useful and interesting plant. I love the new growth in your photos!

They are so photogenic! My friend's daughter and son-in-law are honeymooning in New Zealand this week, and are enjoying your country very much!

These are wonderful. I think fern fronds are so cool looking and the BW processing is really nice here.
