7/3/22

final roadside views

These are the last of our photos from our long weekend.

I love these wonky telephone poles.

We drove up Ugly Hill a ways but it looked quite nice to us. :)

Waihi falls near Weber

These birdies kept Hubby company at the bottom of the waterfall.

4/2/22

black swans

We stopped by Lake Mangamahoe for the first time in a long time.
It was overcast and a breeze rippled the water, making photos rather difficult.
There are lots of ducks and swans on this manmade lake.

I'm not sure what is going on with cygnets at this time of year! (It's autumn)

black swans at lake mangamahoe

Usually, we only see five or six black swans at this lake, but today there were so many, I couldn't count them all!

This is just one group that we saw.

swans at virginia lake

I was excited to see white swans at this lake since black swans are the norm here.

black swan

I thought these beautiful creatures only lived in fresh water until we saw them in the ocean below Farewell Spit.

taupo

Hubby and I just got back from a short trip to Taupo. Will post more photos when I get them organized.

Winged creatures

I don't usually see more than one Tui at a time, so these three that were having a loud discussion were a treat.

This dock obviously doesn't get much use.

One pair of black swans was preparing to run off the other pair. It was quite a sight.
