This interesting creature from the back yard/garden is called a WETA and only lives in New Zealand.

This is an interesting insect! It reminds me of a blend of a cricket and a grasshopper.

That's interesting that there is one insect that only lives in New Zealand. It looks like a cockroach. Thanks for the party.

oh yes, I have seen some NZ-photos of wetas - they are apparently PRETTY LARGE specimens of "hayhoppers"...
