lenticular clouds

Mt Taranaki has some strange cloud formations sometimes. These were all taken within a few minutes of the others as we traveled past.

weekend beauty

Even though it's officially winter, the sun was out this weekend so Hubby and I went for a drive. Despite the season, we did find some great color and beauty.

These photos were taken at Lake Mangamahoe.

Pukekura Park in New Plymouth is where these were taken.  Most of the trees here in Taranaki are different kinds of pine (it grows extraordinarily fast here) so 'autumn' color is rather sparse.  I have no explanation for the trees and bushes blossoming at this time of year!

doves in the park, tararua

We came across this little park in the Tararua area and were greeted by doves outside and inside the tent. I have no idea what it was all about, but the doves were gorgeous.

origanum rotundifolium

This is one of my all-time favorite flowers. I bought the tiny plant because it was in the dry-tolerance section of the plant store and it bloomed into this incredible and complicated looking flower. One day I hope  to have a huge hanging basket full!

Koru

This fern furl  is called koru in Maori. It symbolized new life, growth and peace.
