definitely spring

A few shots from the garden today, as it was wonderfully warm and springy.

freesia

clematis montana

magnolia

Lots of daffodils

azaleas

I included this photo of baby poppies that have been growing a while. They are ALL from ONE little poppy that came up last spring!

and some orchids

ponga up close

In the middle of the photo below is what's left of a ponga (punga, silver fern) tree
that once was the only tree in the front garden. I have lots of photos of the tops and
furled fronds of these beauties, but not a whole tree so I refer you to this photo on the TePapa website.

Each frond has left its own mark on the trunk and lichen has made
some harder to see.

I don't know about you, but I think nature is pretty cool, even in death.

spring colors in winter

I am not sure what is happening but my flowers seem to be seasonally challenged!
Winter is on its way and the flowers don't seem to care :)

These 'stars' caught my eye. Even after blooming flowers are pretty.

I don't know what kind of cactus this is, but it looks happy.
