The Awakino Post office has been transformed into accommodations.
Living in the house (white dot) in the middle of the photo wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit. :)
I'm not sure why, but this ending to one long dirt road freaked me out a little bit.
I guess it was because the next road wasn't immediately apparent.

Good shots.
It sure wouldn't hurt my feelings to live anywhere there...oh, my, i so love that 7th shot. Well, lets just say it is very interesting to me...
My guess is that the rusty machine in your photo is the wheels and boiler of a steam traction engine. Not sure who manufactured it as most of the piping, flywheel, and cylinders are long gone. But it makes for a great photo. Your series is terrific.
That steam traction engine could be a Davey, Paxman & Co from Colchester, England.
I always find travelling on back road more exciting and unpredictable and I love the rusty old engine Betty. Have a a great weekend
An interesting varied template of pictures!
Magnificent views, especially the first one!
Great bird photo, too!

Always impressive to see such nice pics. The mountain shots makes me want to be there more and ,more
Back roads are the best! A beautiful series of photos with a wonderful rural/country feel to them.
Love your back roads photos, why would a stram engine we way out on a country back road? Road construction, gold exploration, some kind of farm equipment? Makes you think.
so beautiful
like the landscape hills
Love the Awakino Post Office. Looks a nice place to stay. Lovely countryside.
The post office looks so nice. Me like.
Nice to meet you, Betty and thanks for stopping by The Doglady's Den! ☺ I've never been to your part of the world but would love to see it, one day. Your photos are adding to my interest. Lovely and rustic. Cheers!
Gorgeous
That's quite a view, I feel sorry for the little old shack, I'm sure it was someone's loving house at one time.
I love the little library. Makes me wonder what sort of books are in there.
