Turuturu Park

Hubby is always on the lookout for places we can walk that are of interest to us all. This is Turuturu Park in Hawera that has seen better days. But it was quite interesting, even in the dead of winter.

This is an old Maori Pa (fortress) that was really huge. It not only sat on a hill, but they also dug several ditches at intervals up the hillside to deter enemies.

And, no trip is complete without a family portrait!

That what makes New Zealand rich: it's natural and pristine habitat for the camera lens.

Great pictures of your bush you shared with us Betty.

Wow! It is still so green during winter! Love the rather neglected feel of the woods.

I remember that park !! :-)

Those old Maori Pa sites are fascinating places to visit. You can stand and imagine what life must have been like for them in those days...

Love the family shadow portrait !!!

Looks like a great place to explore while getting your exercise. The best combination. The exploring makes you forge that exercise is really hard work.

Nice tour of your world.

'turu' in our native language is 'trees' :)
