Blog stats...

Blogland never ceases to amaze me.

I have posted some favorite photos that I just couldn't wait to share.

And, sometimes, I have shared shots that I like a lot but was not sure that my fellow bloggers would feel the same.

With that said, I clicked the 'all time' button on the stats page to see which of my photos has the most views and I was quite surprised to see which one was the run-away winner!

This is my most viewed photo.

And this is the second most views photo.

I never would have guessed these two in a million years.

But no matter which is most viewed, I appreciate each and every click :)

The rainy weather created beauty in the midst of the gloom.
I do hope spring shows up soon.

new arrivals

I visited the farm that is on the land where we rent and saw some of
their new calves. They are well cared for but I found that farming is
not a simple operation any more.

This one was born that morning.

Most can be sold when they know who the father is through
AB (artificial breeding).

I learned that some of those born on this farm were twins. If the twins are
male/female, the female is usually infertile.

They all just had their horns 'removed' that day so they
were a little less lively than usual.

But they were all adorable!

Brooklands Zoo, part 2

These are some other animals that we saw at Brooklands Zoo.

Meerkats were added to the zoo last year

Brolga, Australian crane

What are you lookin' at?

Helmeted Guinea Fowl

Kunekune Pig that loves to be petted!

I always though it was odd that they have guinea pigs in the zoo.

Silkie chicks

They have interesting feet

Brooklands Zoo

We took advantage of some great weather (along with half the parents in Taranaki!) and went to the Brooklands Zoo that is in Pukekura Park.
These are some of the birds in the walk-through aviary.

This is one of the Queen Anne Pheasant pair.

And, here's the other Queen Anne Pheasant.
