Given I'm just seeing the same view out my window,I can't tell you how happy that expansive view made me feel. I'm guessing our bubble is closed for good so I'll start dreaming instead of actually planning a trip in Jan that I thought we might get...

Aaah, what a wonderful view, dear Betty!
And I just read your post on the other blog. I had no idea that you emigrated to NZ from the USA, I thought you "always" lived here. And I had no idea that there is no tasty filter coffee in NZ. In a way, I can understand that such deficits are not so important at first, but then, after years, it is remarkable. I don't know if you know that Austrian cuisine is famous and that you don't find many wonderful dishes in the same form anywhere in the world, most of them not even in neighboring Germany. It is not difficult for me to be on vacation for a few weeks and try the delicacies of other countries - but after a while I long for some typical Austrian dishes. Could I live in New Zealand without (the real) Wiener Schnitzel, without yeast dumplings with powidl (a special plum jam) and poppy seed sugar or without cream fisoles with dill, parsley potatoes and a special fried sausage? I'm longing for that after every journey ;-)
All the best from Austria
