Always good to see the layered strata of rock and soil. Might be able to tell something of ancient past by studying the layers.

In Tennessee there were fields that had a LOT of limestone, but not quite like this. In fact, our school yard had a lot of rocks...it is a wonder some of us did not get hurt.

Love these rocky outcrops :)

Tugs at the mind to wonder why it's there and what it might have looked like in the past. Very interesting how it's just spaced out along the fields. :)

An impressive landscape with these rock formations.
We have a similar landscape here in Germany, maybe not quite as big and huge.
Dear Betty, nice to see you with this contribution also with me and the "DND".
Many thanks and best regards
Jutta

This stone looks interesting, maybe it resembles slate?

Interessant was Du da zeigst und bestimmt eine besondere Geschichte. Die Steine sind ja nicht vom Himmel gefallen. Ein grosses Areal!

The layered limestone is very cool. You can see the softness caused by erosion.

Oh My Goodness - that takes me back a year or two as I grew up in that district and that was my 'norm' when ever we went anywhere... not so much over here on the pumice type soils in the Central N.I.
Loving these stunning photos

The stone from a distance looks stacked or an old foundation.

Very interesting. I've not been to New Zealand - and not sure I'll make it there so I'm glad that I was able to see these through your lens.
