wai-iti beach

These photos were taken by Hubby and me today. Like most of the beaches in Taranaki, the coastline is covered with shallow caves. Wai-iti has one that is quite large. That's 6'4" Hubby inside. I don't expect it to be there for long as most of the rocks and boulders are chunks of the Papa clay coast that have eroded and fallen onto the beach.

Wow! Nice scenery. The water has really taken it's toll on the rocks.

Beautiful beach; wonderful to explore Betty. I was thinking how little kids would love it -- it looks like a place where pirates might be don't you think? Or treasure? .... (I would love it too -- I have the imagination of a 10 year old child (and probably the intelligence too).

I love those flat rocks with rust colour mirroring each other. How did that form ai wonder?
I had to laugh at you talking about the cave falling in just as you picture your hubby inside!
Such luscious shots. I feel like I went for a beach walk. Thankyou!

That sure is a beautiful beach & beautiful scenic photos too Betty. I remember visiting NZ several times when I was in the Australian Navy & what a beautiful place it was too. Me & a mate hired an outboard dinghy at a caravan park at Whangarei & went fishing. We caught a couple of Snapper & the Caravan park kiosk even cooked our fish with some chips for us. When we were there a lot of our younger sailors got caught out in the pubs as we didn't realise about the 21 year old drinking age. Maybe it's changed since then as that was back in the late 70's

Those caves are huge! The beach looks so peaceful but I imagine it must get pretty stormy looking at those rocks.
