beneath the fallen flowers

Between rain showers, I picked up some dahlias that had fallen over. Realizing that they were broken off, I threw them into the cow pasture paddock and discovered my own little fungi colonies.

Fungi are always a sweet surprise to me -- I never go looking on purpose but when I find them I am always happy. (I never eat any wild mushrooms that I find, but some of my kids and grandkids know how to look for the right ones. ... at least I hope they know the difference.)

Cool shots! I tried to take some photos of fungi the other day...didn't really look like anything when I saw the image - I'll have to try again! Thanks for linking up!
