european goldfinch

This little beauty was enjoying the thistle blooms in the paddock next door and moving sooo fast!

They are getting fairly common in the UK, the increasing numbers being caused by more and more people putting out feeders containing nyger seed. My brother was regularly having up to a dozen visiting his garden during the winter. Incidentally the collective noun for a flock of goldfinches is a "charm" of goldfinches.
