Pine trees grow super fast in New Zealand. They are used mostly for
paper products.
We saw these train cars filled with trees in the South Island being
taken to the docks for shipment overseas.

In Germany is the Kauri-Wood the Hit at the Moment. Sure that you know this tree.

ReplyDeleteThat is indeed a lot of logs! I love wood dearly when it's used in homes and furniture, but I also worry we use too much of it. Forests like these that are planted specifically for use are a good way around it, I think!

ReplyDeleteHere in Israel we have millions of pine trees but they were almost all planted and are not meant to be cut down and used.
Reminds me of when I lived in Oregon. They also make paper there which is not a very good smell. Love the forest though!
ReplyDeleteI have seen the ports in Wellington loaded with trees going overseas. I have not seen the rail cars that take the trees to the port. Thanks for a photo of this.
