snow on the mountaintops

Our intention of going in winter was to see snow on the mountains. 
Going up, we only saw snow on the far Kaimanawa Ranges, which was
a gorgeous sight.


But overnight the temperatures dropped and, on the way back south, the hills 
beyond the Waiouru Plains had a lovely white covering!

    awesome shots! we travelled along the desert road last year at this time and saw similar scenery.

    Well, I bet this post cooled a few people down over here on this side of the pond! It really is beautiful that snow. But I have to admit I'd rather see it in pictures than actually.

    Oh, I didn't want to see snow right now - I want to keep my summer mood here for two more months ...
