We have been out wandering about the countryside again. We started
along the Forgotten World Highway and drove south to the Whanganui River Road.
There were a few specific places I wanted to visit--and I will share them with you--but half the fun is getting there.
Tongariro and Mt Ngauruhoe (otherwise, known as Mt Doom!).
We saw lots of wild goats--but only after Hubby commented that we hadn't seen any yet!
Wild turkeys.
Gas warning sign along the way.
This is one of many cute lambs that we saw.
That's kilometers per hour, not miles (about 15.5 miles).
This little lost guy had his duck friend to keep him company.
Aww, sweet cow and duck. the goats frolicking in the distance is especially amusing considering what hubby said. Love the photo and LOTR reference.
ReplyDeleteNZ place names never case to stagger me. How on earth do you know how to pronounce them. Love your photos especially the cute little lamb and the snow covered mountains.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenic beauty, nice captured specially little lamb and volcano mountain.

ReplyDeleteForgotten Highway sounds so mysterious. Of course, it is Spring in your part of the world the lambs do look very cute indeed. I can't believe the amount of wild animals you have there, no wonder you have to drive slowly. Great pictures xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely park! I was just wondering last week on our vacation whether other countries had National Parks like we do, so thanks for sharing yours! And I had no idea that there were wild turkeys in NZ - I thought they were strictly a North American native.
