This little guy/gal showed up on a dull, cloudy day. It's the second time I've seen him/her. I think s/he was fishing in the little river along the paddock. If you want to know more about him/her, click here.
I love kingfishers..we have the red-belted that fish the pond here and I have seen them bring their young to teach them.. Amazing birds...Michelle from Nature Notes
A nice photo, I wonder how many people make the same assumption as my self, when confronted with a bird where both birds (male & female)have the same plumage, look identical. I nearly always say He's a beauty, why? ;-). All the best Gordon.
I am SOOOO jealous. I have been wanting to get a Kingfisher forever...see them often on both coasts...they always sit still just until I get my camera out.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely close-up. It looks a little smaller than the kingfishers I see here.

ReplyDeletethey're a beautiful bird to get to see; sometimes elusive, or just too far away
