Feeding her pet eels was part of the fringe garden festival at a rural garden. She made sure each one got fed. To each her own!

  1. Oh, I only know smoked eels(in Holland) as skinny long fish, that are delicious. This is quite different!

  2. I have never seen such big eels! Our Dutch eels are used for consumption. Are these ones edible?

  3. HI Betty I neveer heard of anyone having pet eels. They are very big so you must fed them well. When I was doing some missionary work in Albania, I was staying with an Albanian famillly adn he couaght eels adn she smoked them adn served them to me. They were delicious but I have neve been able to find any since.

  4. Thanks for your kind comments on this post. I added a link about NZ eels for more information. Apparently, they are edible, as I found recipes on NZ sites.

  6. Golly! I'm not a squeamish "girly-girl" at all, but I think I'd probably draw the line at having pet eels. Funny -- and definitely Quirky! (Nice photo series!)

  8. Pet eels...now that's a first. They are certainly weird but don't really scare me. Not sure though if I'd hold one.
