Tucked away beneath the branches of the surrounding trees is a historic treasure called Richmond Cottage. It was originally built in 1853 near the waterfront from rocks found on the land. ReplyDeleteI love such preserved places... my mother's parents lived simply like this and I do recall, from early childhood, the women of the family having laundry days with wooden wash buckets and a large mangle; maybe not as big is the one shown here, but there were plenty of warnings about keeping little fingers away from the workings!!! YAM xx

ReplyDeletesolche "Freilicht-Museen" (so werden diese Einrichtungen bei uns genannt) finde ich hochinteressant. Sie vermitteln einen Eindruck wie vor vielen vielen Jahren gelebt wurde...Es ist fast wie eine Zeitmaschine...man wird zurückversetzt in längst vergangene Zeiten...und mit etwas Fantasie fühlt man, wie das Leben damals war...Ich mag das sehr!
