When we were in New Plymouth, Hubby showed me one of his favorite things to do when he had time to kill. We walked down to the Huatoki River alongside Puke Ariki with some raw beef and fed the eels.
These are long fin eels that are only found in New Zealand and are 'in decline.'
What great pictures of these unique creatures. They do look hungry, and amazingly trusting.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures look surreal and amazing.
ReplyDeleteReminded me of The Tin Drum where they were catching eels. Have you ever eaten them?
ReplyDeleteLooks like they were happy to see you. :D I've never seen an eel!
ReplyDeleteI never seen an eel and these ones seem very friendly. I guess they would be if they know there is food to be taken.
ReplyDeleteWow Betty..this is so cool and the close-ups are amazing...Michelle
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh!! Great pictures of this very different creature. What an odd feeling it must be to feed them.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Betty these are fantasit shots
ReplyDeletegreat shots of a weird animal.
ReplyDeleteI never knew that the eels eat beef. I used to feed the ones in the pond by me with bread. It looks like yours jump out of the water higher to get their meal. Now I know the secret.
ReplyDeleteIt does not matter!
ReplyDeleteThe main thing is, you are doing a contribution :-)
