Harrier Hawk

Even though we live in the country, we don't get to see hawks this close very often. We do have one that lives close by and flies along the hedges looking for rodents and such, but he doesn't get very close to the house.

I was fortunate to capture this one along a country road as Hubby stopped the car for me.

This bird is also called the Swamp Harrier and in Maori, Kahu. You can read more here.

  1. What a magnificent creature. Despite their size it is so hard to photograph them so you did so well to get a good shot.

  2. What luck to catch photos of a hawk flying by. I have some that hang around my yard but they are always way up some tall tree. Great shots of the hawk on the wing, Betty!

  8. Check out that beak! What a special set of shots. I have a pair of red tailed hawks on my property and I haven't been able to get a good shot ever! Thank you so much for joining in the Random Moments of Delight... it's awesome!
