It's getting to be autumn in my part of the world, so I am delving into the archives for photos. This is a New Zealand wood pigeon, it's Maori name is kereru. When you hear them fly overhead, they sound like helicopters. Honest.

that is a pretty colorful pigeon! it does sound like a helicopter!

ReplyDeleteI have a feeling we have these pretty pigeons here too, or a similar one. We have these fat white ones as well that come down from Papua New Guinea they are also really noisy when they fly.
