kereru-NZ wood pigeon and WATW

They are quite shy and sound a bit like a helicopter blade rotating when they fly overhead. Really!



This is a New Zealand wood pigeon. Its Maori name is Kereku and can weigh up to  650g (1.4 lb).

  9. It's a so lovely pigeon, this Kereku .... I'm happy to see this bird. Our pigeons have mostly grey sometimes white feathers.

  17. well there you go. We have pigeons over here but as they are introduced they are pests. Although we do have a native spinifex pigeon.
