These hares were introduced to New Zealand for food and sport.
As cute as these little critters are, they are nothing but a nuisance. Of course, I have to give our cat, Grace, some credit for trying to keep the population down--she brings in many little ones in the spring; one night she brought in four!!

ReplyDeleteOh yes, one of those wonderful 'imports' which found its heaven... These are lovely 'captures'! YAM xx
Don't think I would like 4 young hare now brought to me!!! However these photos are great. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteIn England where they belong they are not too much trouble. They do well on the large modern fields as they like the wide open spaces where they can see any danger coming.
ReplyDeleteThey look like the jackrabbits found on the plains of the western US.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty, I like the ears.. Great shots! Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post... Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like Florida, where introduced species tend to thrive a little too well.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots of cute hares.
ReplyDeleteThey are cute though to look at.
ReplyDeleteThat looks suspiciously like our European Brown Hare. Once again, man interfering with the natural world and making a mess of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little rapid !
ReplyDeleteThey look very nice. Your cat makes a good job :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Hare ~ so cute and great shots!

So sad they have become a nuisance...much like the house sparrows and starlings introduced here...my little bunnies are kept in check by natural predators..
ReplyDeleteI hope to never be so hungry I have to eat a rabbit.
