Rusty trains

These old train parts were sitting beside the tracks at Waitara. Hubby took these photos.

  1. Neat - I wonder why they are so rusty. Is there an approximate age?

    With all of that rust you would think they had been under water. I notice with the cars in our Northern part of the US - we get a lot more rust than the folks in the south - because we use salt to treat our roads in the winter time.

    Not only does it rust the cars - but kills some vegetation near the roads as well.
