lake mangamahoe

In 1931 the lake was created by forming a dam across the valley and submerging 79 acres for power generation.
To protect the steep hillside from eroding, planting was undertaken to protect the pine trees growing in what is now the Mangamahoe Forest.
Public entry to the forest was once restricted until 1990.

  3. I hope you're right about the condo on the Columbia River. So far, nothing has been done except for putting up the poles. On the other side, I got an interesting photo of boards falling apart where a floor used to be. It's a cool photo, and I'll post it one of these days. Thanks for stopping by :)

  4. As a young girl, my late mother showed me how to appreciate nature. And I do, not just did, but I also will till my eyes grow dim.

In the beginning, my blogging was just a way of passing my time, my loneliness.

But since joining photographic networks for fun, everything just lift off.

Now, am enjoying every place around the world through photo sharing. And it's great!

You are the second NZder whose blog I follow. There is one from Hamilton Island too! After all, we are kindred neighbours.

Am glad you love your new country, your new home as I do with mine.

Beautiful pictures and those ducks remind me of a NZ moviemade movie "Fly Away Home".
