hungry hawk

When Hubby was on his way home, he drove by this juvenile hawk on our road as it was eating. I guess he was too hungry to care that a car was just a few feet meter away and didn't notice when I grabbed the camera and we drove back to see if he was still there.

Great pictures. You were fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. Must get out my reference books to see if I can identify the species.

Maybe just a young inexperienced bird though quite often birds are not scared of vehicles but seem to get a big surprise if you open the door and get out!

Nice close up, I saw one in the early spring with a squirrel that kept it from flying over 15 feet from the ground.Figured it must have had a nest near.

Amazing that you could get that close to this hawk even if it is a juvenile. It was probably hungry and has yet learned to be afraid of cars.
