Roadside scenes

If you can name the purple flower below, I'd appreciate it. We saw a lot of it on the roadside so I assume it is used to combat soil erosion.

Now those are some gorgeous roadside scenes. I loved them all but really thought #4 & #6 were extra pretty. What are the purple flowers?
