wild, wee purples

I found this great flower growing in the thicket beside a river. I don't know what it is, but I thought it was interesting and different. It reminds me of a wild onion. Please let me know if you know what it is.

Very pretty, Betty. Really nice picture too!!! Thank you for this nice "W" word picture.

[I had some Wild Texas Bluebonnets on my "V" word post for view (out my car window).]

I'm not sure what your flower is, but it reminds me a little of the beautiful flowering thistles we are trying to eradicate from our farmland!

It certainly is interesting and different.

It's very pretty. I'm not sure what it is but it looks like the alliums we have in the US. They are a part of the onion and garlic family, but they produce beautiful flowers.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your nice comment.

At this stage I'm not sure if it is like a thistle or an allium. As I recall, alliums grow taller and more flowery - so perhaps more time will tell.

How do you get such detailed camera shots? I'm always impressed.

A beautiful photograph! I think it might be a thistle, but you'll need to return and take another picture when it's in full bloom.

Very pretty--I especially like the way the leaves of the plant have wrapped themselves around the flower--almost as if they are framing it.
