birthday in monochrome

Yesterday was my birthday and we took a walk at the base of Mt. Taranaki/Mt. Egmont. I wouldn't have expected a fall day at the foot of a mountain to appear so tropical. I can't name any of this vegetation--I simply enjoyed it. These photos were taken by bettyl, Hubby, Missy and Otterboy.

Clearly a wet place with all these bryophyte-style plants. Looks great.

Some of this vegetation could almost be called "eccentric"! An interesting series!

I love the third one down. It looks like a scary monster covered in moss, hehe.

Thanks for taking me to a different world. I always love peeking into mother natures not so obvious perspectives.
The tree trunk and the fern are my favorites :)

Oh and happy belated birthday :)!!
